LEAP- CREATIVE INDUSTRIES EXPO.

FCP

Welcome back to my blog! I hope everyone is having a great week! Today I thought I would tell you all about a creative expo I recently went to called ‘Leap’. It was the first one that NTU has ever put on for creative students! So, of course, I had to go! There were stalls of brands and also talks & presentations that you could go along to! Here is what I thought of the day…

There was a great atmosphere; it felt like a very positive place to be. We (my course friends & I) firstly signed up, and were given information about all the stalls that we could visit. There were some really big names there! After having our photo snapped, we headed to the expo. On the way we wrote our ‘creative dream/goal’ on a origami crane, and hung it up on the ‘Wish Wall’… the aim was to get as many creative peoples dreams up together & make a wall full of cranes! It not only looked colourful & eyecatching, but it was inspiring to read about everyone’s goals for the future!

It was time for the expo. We walked around the stalls until we found the ones that we were particularly interested in. These included; Skinny Dip London, New Look, Next, and a few more! Skinny Dip gave us some freebies which was so lovely, as well as the representative giving us lots of information & also answering all of our questions! I looooove Skinny Dip anyway, so seeing them there as a potential employer for the future rather than from a consumer point of view, was really amazing! Moreover, New Look & Next had great schemes for students to do work experience for one to a few weeks in summer! Something to look into that’s for sure! Big brand names to work with… the possibility to get experience for either on is very exciting to me!

I found the expo overall really enjoyable. There was a buzz of energy around the building, as creative students from the Uni chatted to different brands who had attended- which was great to see/ be a part of. Although I am only first year, and the expo was tailored more towards those in their final year looking for potential jobs/ placements, it was definitely a good hour or so. I am glad I went to experience it! I look forward to the next creative expo that NTU puts on, I’m sure it will be an even bigger success! I have included a few pics below.
