OF THE MINUTE.

Fashion, FCP

Welcome back to my blog! Today I thought I would share with you a concept I created a few months ago whilst putting together my Fashion Communication portfolio; ‘Of the Minute’. My idea for this is to make it a reoccurring post which will feature different things I think are ‘Of the Minute’, these may include for example, brands of the minute, trends of the minute, fashion icons of the minute etc. For the first instalment below I have decided to focus on a few current and popular trends (of the minute) that I have noticed this past month of October. If you want to find out what they are, then please keep on reading!

  1. The Slogan/Branded t-shirt – Gucci started this trend off a few months ago with there iconic branded t-shirt (see picture), and ever since the popularity of the trend has continued to grow with online shops such as Missguided, as well as high-street retailers like Topshop bringing an abundance of options out. Personally I have boarded the slogan tee trend; I think they can be such as staple piece to an outfit that can be dressed down with trainers or dressed up with a blazer & heels. Speaking as someone who can’t afford the Gucci original, I’m here for the high-street’s alternatives!

2. Sports Luxe/ Trainers/ Stripes- This trend is absolutely everywhere at the minute. I don’t think I can walk anywhere for 5 minutes without seeing someone with trousers that have a stripe down them ( myself included). Sports Luxe as a trend has been apparent for a while now, but with the re introduction/take on Adidas’ OG stripe the hype over the trend has reached new levels. And I am obsessed. Every online website I look on has sold out of there version of the trend, whether it be a smart trousers, a pair of joggers or even as simple as a pair of leggings. But I am determined to find more side striped items… before the trend dies that is. Trainers it seems have also had a comeback this past month or so with brands releasing new styles, as well as reviving the old classics, such as the Nike Air Max 97’s. Easy to wear, comfy and fashionable… what more could you want?

3. Fur- Another big trend I have noticed recently since the weather has been getting colder is the emergence of fur jackets ( faux of course). With brand such as Zara releasing surprisingly affordable options, in addition to the more expensive versions from other brands, I feel like it is definitely the coat trend of the season. Additionally, a new take on the traditional fur jacket that have spotted recently has been the ‘teddy bear’ style of fur. Front runners of the trend seem to be Urban Outfitters and Missguided, as well as multiple Depop sellers copying the style. I need one in my life ASAP!

4. 90’s revival- The last trend for this addition of ‘Of the Minute’ I had to mention is the 90’d revival trend. One key item that has been incredibly popular recently has to be the hoop earring; whether they’re big or small, gold or silver, it seems that everyone owns a pair! Once again, myself included. At first I was sceptical about the trend, but now I literally wear mine with everything… hoodie? Hoops. Dress? Hoops. Pyjamas? Hoops. It’s safe to say I’m addicted. Another element of the 90’s trend I have noticed whilst browsing online is square neck and halter neck comeback. A popular trend in previous years that has once again starting to reappear; one that I shall have to keep my eye on other the next few months. But I predict it will be a big one!

NEW IN: Shoes.

Fashion

Welcome back to my blog! For today’s post I thought I would do another ‘New In’ post. For this addition I will be sharing with you what pairs of shoes I have recently purchased. So if you would like to find out what they are, please keep on reading!

  1. The first pair of shoes I picked up are a pair of faux suede mules from Primark. Mules are everywhere recently, so I couldn’t resisted trying the trend out for myself when I saw these (image below) in Primark. They also came in baby blue and baby pink, which were both very tempting, but I stuck with the staple black pair as I thought they would be more wearable. I love these mules, and what they do when styled with an outfit! fullsizerender-57
  2. The next pair are also from Primark; they are a pair of denim look high heels. They have a strap that goes around the ankle with a gold metal buckle, and are also slightly squared at the toe, which surprising, I really like the look of. The heel height is perfect; not too high but higher than the previous pair so they look a little more dressy, great when I want to look a little more put together. I thought these shoes would be great to try out and see if I can style them… I might post a OOTD wearing them soon! Definitely feeling the 1970’s vibe! fullsizerender-59
  3. The last pair of shoes I picked up from Primark are a pair of black faux suede sling backs, also with gold hardware. I have been seeing this style of shoe so much recently on social media and in magazines paired with the ‘jeans & dresses’ trend, so when I saw a pair in Primark, again, I had to get them! They are a perfect day-to-day heel that I can’t wait to wear. They also had these shows in a variety of different styles, so definitely check them out if you can! fullsizerender-58
  4. The next pair of shoes are the only trainers in my ‘New In’ post, however I have been eyeing up a fair few in the past couple of days. These trainers (below) are the True White Hummus Old Skool Vans… and they are beautiful! The colour of these is my favourite thing about them; I can’t wait to wear them in the Spring/Summer months (when it gets a little warmer here), and I think because of their nude/tan colour they will go with so many things! They also had these in a pink colour which was amazing as well, but I opted for the ‘hummus’ shade as I think they were more ‘me’. I am so happy I decided to order these! fullsizerender-53
  5. The final pair of shoes in this haul definitely have to be my favourite… they are a pair of red ghillie lace up heels from New Look. I adore them! I have been on the hunt for a pair of red high heels for such a long time now, as I think they look absolutely killer on a night out with the right outfit, such as a LBD. So when I saw these on the website in the sale I had to pick them up! Although the heel is a little high, I think they are gorgeous and are exactly what I have been looking for! Beauty is pain right? LOVE LOVE LOVE!fullsizerender-61

I hope you enjoyed this ‘New In’ shoes addition post! More to come soon!

NEW IN: Jewellery.

Fashion

Welcome back to my blog! For today’s post I thought I would do something a little different; instead of one big collective haul, I am going to upload several smaller ‘new in’ hauls of items I have bought recently, starting with jewellery. So, if you want to find out what pieces of jewellery I have picked up in the last few weeks then please keep on reading!

I have been loving layering my jewellery (e.g. necklaces) at the minute, so I was on the hunt for sets of simple/ dainty gold or silver metal necklaces… and Primark certainly didn’t disappoint! The first gold set I picked up contained four chokers, each has a small pendant/detail in the centre, such as a moon or coin. My favourite one has to be the laser cut out choker ( far right); I love the almost Moroccan feel/vibe it has. It is good set to mix and match with, especially for only £2/3 (I can’t remember the exact price but all the sets were £3 or under). Another piece I picked up from Primark was a 3 in 1 necklace that has one gold, one silver and one rose gold slinky chain that are joined together at the back. It was only £3 but feels quite heavy/ good quality! A bonus factor of this necklace is that I can match it to any other colour of metal, such as my new silver watch that I picked up from Primark too for £8! Love, love, love. Moreover, to layer on my wrist I bought a set of 8 chain bracelets (that were also different coloured metals) for £2, from Primark, if you didn’t already guess! I love all the details of each individual bracelet; they look good put together or worn separately… very versatile! Also, some of the bracelets match other sets of necklaces I have purchased in this ‘new in’ haul, such as the Moroccan inspired ones, so great to wear them together with the other items! fullsizerender-52

More recently ( today in fact) I purchased two more sets from Primark. The first is another set of chokers, but this time they are a mixture of materials, including black faux suede, gold metal, with details including diamantes and pearls. I can’t quite believe how affordable this was to say you get 6 necklaces (£3)! I am in love with each one and cannot wait to wear them! I would definitely say to check these out in your local Primark… they might be my favourite purchase of the haul! Today I also picked up a more simplistic set which incorporates gold metal and also small pearls. The necklaces are each slightly different in length, and are joined together at the back, but will still look good layered with other ones I have bought! My favourite has to be the longest from the set; I have been on the hunt for one like this for a while to wear with low cut tops, so I was very happy to find out in Primark! And for £2 I couldn’t not pick them up! fullsizerender-51

The next piece in my ‘new in’ haul is a simple gold necklace, again perfect for layering. It sits at the perfect length ( top of the chest) to pair with choker necklaces like the ones above. It has two gold circles in the centre that are intertwined with one another on a thin gold chain. I love the simplistic style of this particular piece! It was £2 from, you guessed it, Primark! I also picked up a set of chain mix metal bracelets from Primark in their jewellery sale. Although they are adjustable, they still are a little loose ( I guess I have small wrists!), but I do still like the look of a few of them layered together with, for example, a watch. I think it adds such detail to an outfit, and for £1.50 they were definitely worth picking up! They are a mix of silver, gold and rose gold metals and each one is slightly different ( as pictured). The last item in the haul is a pre-layered gold necklace; each of the three thin chains are different lengths. So great to ‘chuck on and go’ without having to think about what other pieces they would go with! My ‘go-to’ necklace when I am in a rush for sure! There is a mix of a diamante pendant, a leaf pendant and a laser cut out diamond pendant, all of which look great together! Again, this set from Primark was only £3, I think it would be a good one to start with if you’re trying out the layering trend!

fullsizerender-50

It’s safe to say I am now all set in relation to the jewellery front! I can’t recommend Primark enough for affordable sets to layer with; they have so many to choose from…definitely have a browse in your local store! I can’t wait to play around with my new collection to find different combinations to wear! I hope you took some jewellery themed inspo from this post, and try out layering for yourself! A shoutout to ThePersianBabe and SophiaandCinzia on YouTube for the inspiration for my new jewellery related obsession, check them out! Keep an eye out for my next ‘new in’ instalment coming soon.

January Sales Haul.

Fashion

Welcome back to my blog! Today’s post is going to be a Boxing day/January sales haul. In the past two weeks or so, I have taken full advantage of all the sales that have hit our high-streets, picking up lots of bargains and amazing pieces I thought I would share with you! So if you want to know what I bought, then please keep on reading.

I thought it would be best to split the haul up into sections according to the shops I bought the items from, so first… Topshop! I picked up a simple short-sleeved V-neck body suit for £10, it is a fine knit material. I love the feel and colour of this item (stone), and thought it is a good basic to have for layering! This piece is from the tall section, however I didn’t find it to be any longer than the other bodysuits I own! The nextfullsizerender-18 item I bought from Topshop was a slouchy long sleeved double layered T-shirt from the brand Escapology. I love the style of this item as it is quite oversized and relaxed, not to mention it is a really soft material! I got the top for £15 from £30; I am very happy with this purchase and can’t wait to style it! The final piece I bought was a large, and by large I mean the size of a blanket, grey knitted scarf. Once again the material is really soft, and is the perfect piece to keep me warm over the next few cold months! It was reduced from £28 to £10, a brill price for the quality!

The next shop I bought from in the sales was Zara. I don’t typically shop in Zara, but couldn’t resist having a little look, and I actually ended up buying a couple of items! Firstly, I bought a black strappy camisole velvet top, which has a muted floral pattern with hints of burgundy & grey, black lace around the neckline and up the side slits. I think this top will be perfect to layer over a black turtle neck, but also by itself as it has a gorgeous low V-neck back. I picked this item up for £12.99 down from £19.99. Finally I picked up a pair of shoes; they are black leather ballet flats, with studded straps that wrap around the ankle. I absolutely love this pair of shoes as I think they would add so much to a simple outfit, but they are also are comfy… definitely a big bonus! Again, this item was only £12.99. I might have to pop into Zara more often after these finds!fullsizerender-17

I also picked up a few sale items from River Island. Usually, I stay away from River Island when it comes to sales;  I find them rather hectic and disorganised. However, I did find another pair of shoes and a two tops from this years trip, which I am very pleased with! First, I picked up another velvet camisole top to layer. This one is blush pink in colour, and also has the same black lace detailing as the one from Zara. I bought this top for £10 down from £22, and once again I cannot wait to wear it! The next item is a black lace top with frill detailing. Although this piece is not normally something I would go for, I thought it was too pretty to pass up, especially since it was only £12. I think this delicate item could be styled in so many ways, and might even include it in an outfit post in the future! Finally, I bought another pair of black shoes ( you can never have to many, right?). These ones are slightly pointed and have two studded buckles across the front of the shoe. They are a sturdy faux leather material, so will certainly need breaking in a little. I love the look of these, taking definite inspo from Fearne Cotton’s style! They will go with lots of items I  already have in my wardrobe, and for £25 I am very happy I bought them… not that it took much persuasion. fullsizerender-16

On my shopping trip I also visited Primark; I bought quite a few items… but the majority of them were not in the sale ( I couldn’t resist!). I did however pick up a heather grey hoody dress that was reduced to £5! I bought it in a size 12 so it is slightly oversized rather than fitted, and it comes to the thigh/ just above the knee which is the perfect length. The material is really soft, and almost furry, so it will definitely keep me warm for the rest of winter. I can’t wait to style this versatile piece; I think it could be dressed down with trainers and a denim jacket, or dressed up with some knee high boots. It is simple, but I am certainly glad I picked it up!fullsizerender-14

The last place I shopped in the sales was Office. For a while now I have been after some white trainers to add to my collection, so I thought I might as well have a gander in the sale to see if  I could find any! I actually ended up ordering some online as they didn’t have them in stock in the store;  they are the exclusive Adidas Superstar 80’s in white, with a silver metal toe, and an off white sole. They are amazing! Not to everyone’s taste but I thought they were a great twist to the classic Superstar trainer, and will definitely add something to a simple outfit. I got them in a size 6 for £52.00 from £84.99. I think they were a great purchase that I am really looking forward to wearing soon! fullsizerender-15

That concludes my sale haul post. I am very happy with the items I managed to pick up; I think it was a rather successful shopping trip. I hope you enjoyed this post, and keep a look out for my next one!
