TREND ALERT: CONTRAST STITCHING.

Fashion, FCP

Welcome back to my blog! I have been away on my holidaze for the past 2 weeks to (not so) sunny Portugal! I will do a blog post with pics from my trip soon! I am back today with another trend related post. This time the trend I have spotted is *drum roll* contrast stitching! I have seen this trend not only on the usual fashion clothing sites such as Misguided and Topshop, but I have seen A LOT of Instagram influencers rocking the contrast stitching look! I LOVE it! My personal fave is white denim with black contrast stitching & visa versa. I think it looks so cool… I am here for this trend! Below I have included some examples of pieces as well as some of my fave gals who have been slaying this trend! Let me know what you think; love? Hate? I hope you enjoyed this short post & I will be back soon!

TREND ALERT: GEN Z YELLOW.

Fashion, FCP

Welcome back to my blog! Quick trend related post today! Whilst scrolling through Instagram, I saw a post from VogueRunway that caught my attention; a picture of Yara Shahidi. She was wearing several shades of yellow ( I would call it mustard). The caption was ‘”Gen Z Yellow” is the new millennial pink’. Quite a big claim I thought! As a lover of pink, especially baby pink, and being a millennial myself, I was intrigued by their trend prediction! Especially considering how big pink as a trend has become recently. But if Vogue post about it, it must be a trend, right? I did a quick browse on Zara and Topshop, two popular & fashionable high street stores, to see what I could find. Although there wasn’t an overpowering amount of ‘Gen Z Yellow’ garments, sure enough, the trend has emerged in the ‘new in’ section! I was surprised that it had slipped under my fashion radar until now. Who knows, you might see me rocking a ‘Gen Z Yellow’ coloured dress this summer ūüėČ I have included some screenshots of the items I found! Let me know what you think of this new colour trend; love it? Hate it? I want to know!

NYC MINI MAKEUP HAUL.

beauty, FCP, Makeup

Welcome back to my blog! As the title suggests, tonight’s post (two in one day, check me out!) is going to be a Haul of the makeup products I purchased whilst I was in NYC. I must have visited about five different Sephora’s during my time there; I needed to get my fix before heading home as we don’t have them in the UK (heart breaking, I know). However, I didn’t go crazy and buy too much, just a few products that were on my wish list! I also visited a few CVS stores, and picked up something that I have been wanting to try for a while now! The one product I didn’t manage to get my hands on whilst I was in the US was the Tarte Shape Tape concealer ūüė¶ boooo. I found out that it is sold exclusively at Ulta, but unfortunately I didn’t manage to get to an Ulta store during my short stay. It is still on my wish list though… one day! If you would like to find out what products I did manage to get my hands on whilst I was in New York, then please keep on reading.FullSizeRender (89)

  1. Anastasia Beverly Hills liquid lipstick in the shade ‘Stripped’: Did I need another nude coloured liquid lipstick? No. Did I want one? Yes. I was uming and awing over whether or not to buy this product; I really wanted to try an ABH liquid lip after hearing & seeing so much about them, but it wasn’t a necessity to my makeup collection considering how many similar shades I already own from previous brands. After picking it up and putting it back down in one Sephora store, I kept thinking ‘I wish I had bought it’ afterwards… that’s when you know you need something! The final Sephora we visited on the last day I decided to buy it; they only had one left in the colour I wanted (it must of been a sign)!¬†‘Stripped’ is the perfect nude shade that I know I will get my wear out of, and I can’t wait to try it out properly! ( $20 plus tax).IMG_3411
  2. Fenty Beauty Gloss Bomb: When I visited the first Sephora I realised that they stocked Fenty Beauty, and I knew that I HAD to purchase something! I had heard good things about the foundation, but because I have normal-dry skin, I didn’t think it would be the best fit for me, plus I was on a time limit & so, didn’t want to spend ages getting shade matched etc. I then thought about getting one of the highlighters, but none of them grabbed my attention enough, apart from the gold one, but I definitely don’t think I could pull that one off! I decided instead to get the lipgloss! I had watched reviews & read about the product; it is meant to be the perfect lipgloss for all skin tones. Everyone in the video reviews seemed to love it, and I have gotten into wearing lipgloss much more recently, so thought I would give it a go! It is a subtle dark nude shade, that I will look amazing over so many of my other lip products! Not to mention the packaging is absolutely killer. I am obsessed! So glad I finally own a Fenty Beauty product! ($16 plus tax)IMG_3413
  3. Kat Von D liquid lipstick in the shade ‘Nahz Fur Atoo’: This product, which is a dark red/crimson coloured liquid lipstick, I bought as a gift for my eldest sister. She has been wanting¬†a deep red coloured lip product from Jeffree Star Cosmetics called ‘Unicorn Blood’, but it recently went out of stock before she could get her hands on it. So, whilst I was in Sephora I decided to pick her a similar colour up for her… I hope she likes it! It is quite a vampy shade, something that suits my sister much more than me! ($20 plus tax)IMG_3410.JPG
  4. Nars Creamy Radiant concealer in the shade ‘Vanilla’: This product was a till temptation… you know when your queuing up to pay, or at the till and you’re surrounded by products that you probably don’t need, but somehow they make you think you need them. They got me! I have previously owned this concealer (about¬†a year ago), and I did love it! I just used it up wayyy too fast. This version is actually a mini; I am a complete sucker for mini versions of products! I find them too cute. I thought that this way I won’t use it up as quickly as I don’t have a lot of product in the first place, so my plan is to only use it on special occasions. Also, because I couldn’t get my hands on the Tarte concealer, I thought that this one was a good substitute that I already know I love! ( $13 plus tax)IMG_3412
  5. Loreal Infallible Pro Glow foundation in the shade ‘202’: I have heard so many amazing reviews about this product! I had completely forget that CVS even did makeup when we went in… it was a very happy surprise when we realised! I was browsing all the drug store brands trying to remember what products YouTubers loved, when I found the foundation! I picked it up in the second lightest shade they had, which I hope will be a good match (they didn’t have any testers :() I can’t wait to try it out; fingers crossed I love it! ( about $14)IMG_3414

I hope you enjoyed this makeup themed post! I am already having Sephora withdrawals… I need to go back ASAP!

NYC ACTIVITY CHECK LIST.

Fashion, FCP, lifestyle, photography

Welcome back to my blog! The day before I fly to New York…eeeek! (check my previous blog post for more details). For today’s post I thought I would share with you my activity list for the big apple! From fashion based exhibitions to the top tourist attractions! Let me know if¬†you have any suggestions of places to visit whist I’m there!

  1. Stores/shops- Whilst in New York I obviously want to go shopping… I mean it is the fashion capital of the world!¬†Top of my list is definitely Sephora; I can’t wait to see ( and buy lol) all that makeup!¬†But also I want¬†to visit them¬†for research purposes, for example¬†famous department stores, such as Bergdorf Goodman, Sak’s Fifth Avenue and Macy’s. Moreover, I would like to go to a few high-end stores, like Dior, Chanel, Commes De Garcons etc., just to window shop/browse… my student loan doesn’t quite stretch that far!
  2. Museums- Whilst I am in the big apple, there are lots of different museums/ exhibitions that I would like to visit. To name a few; MOMA, MET, MAD, Whitney Museum of American Art. I think that visiting them will be very inspiring & interesting, as well as being helpful for my University course/ projects. I will be sure to write all about them here on my blog!
  3. Sight seeing- Of course, there are so many sights to see whilst in New York & I want to try and see as many of them as I can! A few on my list are; The Empire State Building (if the weather is okay, fingers crossed!), The Statue of Liberty, Times Square, Central Park, The Rockefeller Centre, Ground¬†Zero, and, if I get a chance, I would LOVE to see a Broadway show. Literally any Broadway¬†show; The Lion King, Hamilton, Wicked, Aladdin, you name it, I want to see it! I will make sure to takes lots of photo’s! it’s¬†the perfect opportunity to practice my photography skills!
  4. Foooooood- Whilst in NYC I am going to be surrounded by so much food! I know I will be spoilt for choice, and I can’t wait. Btw, I definitely consider eating as an activity lol. There are lots of food/ food places that I want to try; I have been told by my brother that I 100% need to have a bagel whilst I am there, and¬†knowing me I will probably eat one everyday. Also, I would like to try out some veggie/vegan places, such as By Chloe ( I am hoping there are lots more veggie options there than there are here, but we shall see!). The healthy eating plan will have to go on a pause whilst I am in New York!

I can’t believe that I fly to NYC tomorrow! It still feels so surreal! Although I won’t be blogging whilst I am there, I will come back with lots of content to post, so please keep your eyes peeled for that! I will be back soon, but for now…

I’M GOING TO NEW YORK!

Fashion, FCP, lifestyle, photography

Welcome back to my blog! I hope everyone is enjoying their weekend so far! I am back today with some very exciting news (as you have probably guessed by the title)… I’m going to New York! That’s right! On Monday I fly to New York City¬†for 5 days with my FCP course… and I still can’t quite believe it! It¬†is top¬†on my bucket list, and I’m sure just about everyone else’s bucket list, so I am super duper excited that I actually get to go! I can’t wait for the food, the sights, the shops…everything! The one worry I have though is the weather; have you seen the forecast for New York at the minute?!¬†Minus degrees and snow! Fingers crossed that it warms up just a tad by Monday, but I am going prepared! Thermals, hats, scarfs, gloves, lots of layers, and¬†big coat! Also, I will take lots of photos while I’m there to share as I am taking my camera with me, so hopefully I get some good shots! Expect¬†lots of NY themed blog posts when I return.

It’s an amazing once in a lifetime opportunity, so I hope that it is going to turn out to be a once in a lifetime trip!

I will be back soon with another post before I go; a checklist of what I want to do whilst I’m there.

I hope you enjoyed reading about my exciting news!

TOP 5 PARTY PICKS.

Fashion, FCP

Welcome back to my blog! For today’s post I thought I would share with you my ‘top 5 party picks’ for this Christmas/ New year party season! I have trolled the online shops( definitely not complaining!) for my favourite outfit choices, from dresses to jumpsuits, sequins to velvet! So,¬†if you want to find out what I picked, and where from, then please keep on reading!

  1. My first choice is this silver chainmail halter neck shift dress from Topshop, which retails at £69. I am loving the chainmail trend which is everywhere at the minute! I think this dress would be a real stand out piece, perfect for NYE! I would personally style it with strappy heels, and hoop earrings, it would be such a look!

2. For my next option I chose a white tassel halter neck body con dress from PLT. This dress is only ¬£35, which I think is an affordable option for this part season! I am obsessed with tassels recently, and although this dress comes in several different colours, I think the colour white adds a Christmassy element… you’ll look like an angel/ snow flake! I would pair this piece with some simple Perspex strappy heels; I would want all the attention to be on the tassels!

3. For my third choice I picked a jumpsuit… as soon as I saw this piece on the MissGuided website I fell in love! And what could be better? It was half price in the sale! This cobalt blue twist bandeau jumpsuit looks simply amazing on the model, and would be perfect for a work Christmas party! If you want something less stand out it also comes in black, but I personally love the colour of the blue option! I would accessorize with diamante earrings and heels! Love!

4. For my 4th choice I went for a wine coloured wrap sequin dress, again from MissGuided. I feel that this piece would be perfect for an extra kinda look on a Christmas night out! The sequins scream holiday glam, whilst the plunge neck line makes it a really sexy number! This dress retails for £25, which I think makes it a perfect option for this party season! I would wear this piece with silver accessories as I think it would compliment the deep red colour perfectly.

5. For my final choice I went with this show stopper piece… you can never have too many sequins, right? This high neck long sleeved¬†body con dress from Motel ( on ASOS) is ¬£60 which I think is amazing considering the level of detail and craftsmanship of this piece! It is a mix of black and midnight blue iridescent¬†sequins, which looks stunning on the model & would look amazing when the sequins hit the lights! The high neck adds a conservative element, which contrasts with the short length & backless element… making it a winning dress in my opinion! I think this¬†piece with some stilettos would be killer! Perfect for a NYE night out!

OF THE MINUTE.

Fashion, FCP

Welcome back to my blog! Today I thought I would share with you a concept I created a few months ago whilst putting together my Fashion Communication portfolio; ‘Of the Minute’. My idea for this is to make it a reoccurring post which will feature different things I think are ‘Of the Minute’, these may include for example, brands of the minute, trends of the minute, fashion icons of the minute etc. For the first instalment below I have decided to focus on a few current and¬†popular trends (of the minute) that I have noticed this past month of October. If you want to find out what they are, then please keep on reading!

  1. The Slogan/Branded t-shirt – Gucci started this trend off a few months ago with there iconic branded t-shirt (see picture), and ever since the popularity of the trend has continued to grow with online shops such as Missguided, as well as high-street retailers like Topshop bringing an abundance of options out. Personally I have boarded the slogan tee trend; I think they can be such as staple piece to an outfit that can be dressed down with trainers or dressed up with a blazer & heels. Speaking as someone who can’t afford the Gucci original, I’m here for the high-street’s alternatives!

imagesFTM5MWTTmatches-logo-print-cotton-t-shirtTS04M32MWHT_Zoom_F_1TS26N44MECR_Large_F_1images665LL022

2. Sports Luxe/ Trainers/ Stripes- This trend is absolutely everywhere at the minute. I don’t think I can¬†walk anywhere for 5 minutes without seeing someone with trousers that have a stripe down them ( myself included). Sports Luxe as a trend has been apparent for a while now, but with the re introduction/take on Adidas’ OG stripe the hype over the trend has reached new levels. And I am obsessed. Every online website I look on has sold out of there version of the trend, whether it be a smart trousers, a pair of joggers or even as simple as a pair of leggings. But I am determined to find more side striped items… before the trend dies that is. Trainers it seems have also had¬†a comeback this past month or so with brands releasing new styles, as well as reviving the old classics, such as the Nike Air Max 97’s. Easy to wear, comfy and fashionable… what more could you want?

6942157-2untitled (15)untitled (14)untitled (17)untitled (16)

3. Fur- Another big trend I have noticed recently since the weather has been getting colder is the emergence of fur¬†jackets¬†( faux of course). With brand such as Zara releasing surprisingly affordable options, in addition to the more expensive versions from other brands, I feel like it is definitely the coat trend of the season. Additionally, a new take on the traditional fur jacket that have spotted recently has been the ‘teddy bear’ style of fur. Front runners of the trend seem to be Urban Outfitters and Missguided, as well as multiple Depop sellers copying the style. I need one in my life ASAP!

4. 90’s revival- The last trend for this addition of ‘Of the Minute’ I had to mention is the 90’d revival trend. One key item that has been incredibly popular recently has to be the hoop earring; whether they’re big or small, gold or silver, it seems that everyone owns a pair! Once again, myself included. At first I was sceptical about the trend, but now I literally wear mine with everything… hoodie? Hoops. Dress? Hoops. Pyjamas? Hoops. It’s safe to say I’m addicted. Another element of the 90’s trend I have noticed whilst¬†browsing online is square neck and halter neck comeback. A popular trend in previous years that has once again starting to reappear; one that I shall have to keep my eye on other the next few months. But I predict it will be¬†a big one!

NEW IN: Shoes.

Fashion

Welcome back to my blog! For today’s post I thought I would do another ‘New In’ post. For this addition¬†I will be sharing with you what pairs of shoes I have recently purchased. So if you would like to find out what they are, please keep on reading!

fullsizerender-54

  1. The first pair of shoes I picked up are a pair of faux suede mules from Primark. Mules are everywhere recently, so I couldn’t resisted trying the trend out for myself¬†when I saw these (image below) in Primark. They also came in¬†baby blue and baby pink, which were both very tempting, but I stuck with the staple black pair as I thought they would be more wearable. I love these mules, and what they do when styled with an outfit! fullsizerender-57
  2. The next pair are also from Primark; they are a pair of denim look high heels. They have a strap that goes around the ankle with a gold metal buckle,¬†and are also slightly squared at the toe, which surprising, I really like the look of. The heel height is perfect; not too high but higher than the previous pair so they look a little more dressy, great when I want to look a little more put together. I thought these shoes would be great to try out and see if I can style them… I might post a OOTD wearing them soon! Definitely feeling the 1970’s vibe! fullsizerender-59
  3. The last pair of shoes I picked up from Primark are¬†a pair of black faux suede sling backs, also with gold hardware. I have been seeing this style of shoe so much recently on social media and in magazines paired with the ‘jeans¬†& dresses’ trend, so when I saw a pair in Primark, again, I had to get them! They are a perfect day-to-day heel that I can’t wait to wear. They also had these shows in a variety of different styles, so definitely check them out if you can! fullsizerender-58
  4. The next pair of shoes are the only trainers in my ‘New In’ post, however I have been eyeing up a fair few in the past couple of days. These trainers (below) are the True White Hummus Old Skool Vans… and they are beautiful! The colour of these is my favourite thing about them; I can’t wait to wear them in the Spring/Summer months (when it gets¬†a little warmer here), and I think because of their nude/tan colour they will go with so many things! They also had these in a pink colour which was amazing as well, but I opted for the ‘hummus’ shade as I think they were more ‘me’. I am so happy I decided to order these! fullsizerender-53
  5. The final pair of shoes in this haul definitely have to be my favourite… they are a pair of red ghillie lace up heels from New Look. I adore them! I have been on the hunt for¬†a pair of red high heels for such a long time now, as I think they look absolutely killer on a night out with the right outfit, such as a LBD. So when I saw these on the website in the sale I had to pick them up! Although the heel is a little high, I think they are gorgeous and¬†are exactly what I¬†have been¬†looking for! Beauty is pain right? LOVE LOVE LOVE!fullsizerender-61

I hope you enjoyed this ‘New In’ shoes addition post! More to come soon!

NEW IN: Jewellery.

Fashion

Welcome back to my blog! For today’s post I thought I would do something a little different; instead of one big collective haul, I am going to upload several smaller ‘new in’ hauls of items I have bought recently, starting with jewellery. So, if you want to find out what¬†pieces of jewellery I have picked up in the last few weeks then please keep on reading!

I have been loving layering my jewellery (e.g. necklaces) at the minute, so I was on the hunt for sets of simple/ dainty gold or silver metal necklaces… and Primark certainly didn’t disappoint! The first gold set I picked up contained four chokers, each has a small pendant/detail in the centre, such as a moon or coin. My favourite one has to be the laser cut out choker ( far right); I love the almost Moroccan feel/vibe it has.¬†It is¬†good¬†set to mix and match with, especially for only¬†¬£2/3¬†(I can’t¬†remember¬†the exact price but all the¬†sets were ¬£3 or under). Another piece I picked up from Primark was a 3 in 1 necklace that has one gold, one silver and one rose gold slinky¬†chain that are joined together at the back. It was only ¬£3 but feels quite heavy/ good quality! A bonus factor of this necklace is that I can match it to any other colour of metal, such as my new¬†silver watch that I picked up from Primark too for ¬£8! Love, love, love. Moreover, to layer on my wrist I bought a set of 8 chain bracelets (that were also different coloured metals) for ¬£2, from Primark, if you didn’t already guess! I love all the details of each individual bracelet; they look good put together or worn separately… very versatile! Also, some of the bracelets match other sets of necklaces I have purchased in this ‘new in’ haul, such as the Moroccan inspired ones, so great to wear them together with the other items! fullsizerender-52

More recently ( today in fact) I purchased two more sets from Primark. The first is another set of chokers, but this time they are a mixture of materials, including black¬†faux suede, gold metal, with details including diamantes and pearls. I can’t quite believe how affordable this was to say you get 6 necklaces (¬£3)! I am in love with each one and cannot wait to wear them! I would definitely say to check these out in your local Primark… they might be my favourite purchase of the haul! Today I also picked up a more simplistic set which incorporates gold metal and also small pearls. The necklaces are each slightly different in length, and are joined together at the back, but will still look good layered with other ones I have bought! My favourite has to be the longest from the set; I have been on the hunt for one like this for a while to wear with low cut tops, so I was very happy to find out in Primark! And for ¬£2 I couldn’t not pick them up! fullsizerender-51

The next¬†piece in my ‘new in’ haul is a simple¬†gold necklace, again perfect for layering. It sits at the perfect length ( top of the chest) to pair with choker necklaces like the ones above. It has two gold circles in the centre that are intertwined with one another on a thin gold chain. I love the simplistic style of this particular piece! It was ¬£2 from, you guessed it, Primark! I also picked up a set of chain mix metal bracelets from Primark in their jewellery sale. Although they are adjustable, they still are a little loose ( I guess I have small wrists!), but I do still like the look of a few of them layered together with, for example, a watch. I think it adds such detail to an outfit, and for ¬£1.50 they were definitely worth picking up! They are a mix of silver, gold and rose gold metals and each one is slightly different ( as pictured).¬†The last item in the haul is a pre-layered gold necklace; each of the three thin chains are different lengths. So great to ‘chuck on and go’ without having to think about what other pieces they would go with! My ‘go-to’ necklace when I am in a rush for sure! There is a mix of a diamante pendant, a leaf pendant and a laser cut out diamond pendant, all of which look great together! Again, this set from Primark was only ¬£3, I think it would be a good one to start with if you’re trying out the layering trend!

fullsizerender-50

It’s safe to say I am now all set in relation to the jewellery front! I can’t recommend Primark enough for affordable sets to layer with; they have so many to choose from…definitely have¬†a browse¬†in your local store!¬†I can’t wait to play around with my new collection to find different combinations to wear! I hope you took some jewellery themed inspo from this post, and try out layering for yourself! A shoutout to ThePersianBabe and SophiaandCinzia on YouTube for the inspiration for my new jewellery related obsession, check them out! Keep an eye out for my next ‘new in’ instalment coming soon.
